Know Your Dictators: A Little Book of Big Tyrants, x Sipho Mudau

85 pages.

First published in 2020.

Finished reading on 18 July 2021.

Genre: Non-fiction (although you won’t believe that).

This was a fun and quick read, about ten dictators from all over the world (– did you know dictators weren’t all black, and not all African? I certainly didn’t).

So, one banned dogs, and renamed bread? 😅

Really very entertaining. Lots of sly digs meant for Zimbabweans, too.

Choice snippets:

I mean I get it but come on 😂
This sounds perfectly normal
Delightful
Not unfamiliar
Sly dig

Conclusions:
1. Humans are pretty uniformly awful.
2. Zimbabwe is really not that unique, after all.

You’ll have fun with this one! Recommend.

Rated: 7/10.

(Mild cw if you consider that some of these people may have been genuinely mentally ill; maybe a sensitivity reader would pick up more. Also, of course, violence.)
