140 pages. Published in 2022 by My African Cliches. Non-fiction picture book.
This is a bilingual (French and English) picture book presenting fifty notable Africans from across the continent, people who have excelled in the fields of Arts & Entertainment, Literature, Health and Medicine, Sports & Games, Science, Tech and Engineering, Human Rights and Society, Entrepreneurship and Education, and Governance & Leadership.
It was fun to try to read in my high school French for practice first before I read the same entry in English. It’s also great that there are Africans past and present, from Charlotte Maxeke to Lupita Nyongo, Elizabeth Bagaya and Flora Nwapa to Nnamdi Azikiwe and Strive Masiyiwa.
It’s a nice gift for the young people in your life (although the copy I reviewed has a few editing errors), and a nice place to start them learning about Africa’s luminaries. Thanks to Dr Teju Baba’s team for the review copy.
