Here are the books I read in January. I enjoyed four of them; that is, except Lark Ascending x Silas House, which was for me both grim (à la Cormac McCarthy’s The Road) and somewhat underwhelming, not including Seamus the marvelous dog ❤️; and Observer x Robert Lanza, Nancy Kress, which had interesting concepts but seems to have been ultimately forgettable.
The English Understand Wool was very smart and funny, Oranges for Magellan x Richard Martin (see interview with author here) was a fave, and Daughter in Exile x Bisi Adjapon was really great. Angola is Wherever I Plant My Field x João Melo was an interesting read and DYK the author is/was an Angolan government official?!
